Opus is an open, royalty-free audio codec designed for interactive speech and music transmission, as well as storage and streaming. It is standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force and is commonly used for voice chat, game audio, and other real-time communications. Xiph.Org maintains the reference implementation, libopus.
